Project Controls Specialist

 

Job Location - Hanford

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements any work breakdown structures and the project coding structure for control and integrity of work defined by the contract within the area of responsibility.

  • While acting in the estimating function, directs the development of labor, material, and subcontract information to provide quantification of the project scope of work for engineering, construction, or maintenance work as directed. Directs the development of indirect, conceptual and specialty estimates.

  • Validates work done by others to ensure completeness and accuracy of content, when in a coordinating role.

  • Forecasts progress, performance and cost/schedule trends of projects to provide both the client and project management with quality information for decision-making.

  • Measures field progress and review invoices of contractors to provide independent judgment for progress reporting and payment.

  • Assists project management in formulating action plans to reverse undesirable trends.

  • With direction from the core project controls group and project management interpret contract conditions to insure compliance in the project control area.

  • Actively leads and/or participates in the company's Continuous Performance Improvement effort and initiate methods, procedures, and techniques based upon improvements.

  • Develops and monitors departmental budget as required.

  • Analyzes information produced by project controls systems to determine trends based upon baseline vs. actual progress and cost data within area of responsibility.

  • Investigates causes of variances between estimated, committed, and actual amounts. Works with CAM to document corrective actions.

  • Reports project performance to meet client, project management, and project control services requirements.

  • Accumulates and compiles accurate and complete estimating or cost or schedule data to assemble the project budget or critical path method (CPM) schedule.

  • Maintains orderly estimating or cost or schedule records to provide audit data and records for insuring the integrity of the project estimating, cost or schedule system.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Cobra cost management system and Primavera P6 scheduling software.

  • Experience with Hanford or other Department of Energy site desirable.

 

Work Package Planner

 

Job Location - Hanford

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between projects according to detailed production or other operational schedules.

  • This includes the initiation, preparation, and support of work package planning using a centralized computerized maintenance management system and/or word processing software for work package resolution.

  • Work control planners are required to read and understand daily working schedules and prioritize work accordingly based on weekly and daily planning sessions.

  • Develop work packages for corrective/preventive maintenance, modification, and fabrication, select operational activities, expense-based project construction of tank farm structures/systems/components.

  • Facilitates team planning meetings and leads multi-disciplined teams in conduct of field walk downs and hazard analysis reviews.

  • May be required to lead teams in the analysis of hazards relating to preventive maintenance activities and identify appropriate actions to implement controls based on results of the analysis performed.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business or four or more years experience Hanford Project work planning and work order development including facilitation of team planning meetings and leading multi-disciplined teams in the conduct of hazard analysis review or a combination of directly related experience and education.

  • In depth understanding of Field Work Supervisor duties.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

     

Mechanical Designer/Engineer

 

Job Location - Kennewick, WA

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing conceptual through final design of radiation waste storage equipment for commercial nuclear plants

  • Manufacturing support of fabricated equipment/components

  • Testing and field support of equipment/components

  • Development of Procedures support.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 1 year working experience designing, supporting the manufacturing, machining or fabrication of equipment/components

  • Capability to prepare the conceptual/final designs in SolidWorks® 2007 and AutoCAD®

  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods for steel

  • Knowledge of heat treatments for steel

  • Knowledge of American welding standards

 

Project Manager

  • 15 Years general construction management experience

  • 5 Years at a Project Management level, of which 3 years includes working with radiologically contaminated materials and chemical and hazardous material handling experience.

     

Site Superintendent

  • 15 Years industrial construction

  • 5 Years supervisory level, which shall include labor management associated with bargaining units

  • 3 years of supervising work involving radiologically contaminated materials and chemical and and hazardous material handling experience.

     

Site Health and Safety Officer

  • 10 Years general construction experience related to safety, health and hygiene i.e., 10 years in a safety and health position

  • 3 years radiological contamination control

  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene certified (COHST, OSHT, ASP/CSP or CIH)

  • Experience must include a thorough understanding and working knowledge of direct reading instruments, personnel exposure monitoring/sampling procedures and record keeping

  • Must be on-site during burial ground excavation and waste handling activities.

     

Certified Industrial Hygienist

  • Must be certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)

  • Responsibilities including reviewing, approving and signing the Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) and Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans (SSHSP), and conducting weekly on-site assessments of subcontractor's compliance with the RPP and SSHSP

  • Must visit the work site on a weekly basis and be available to assist the Industrial Hygiene Lead on an as-required basis (e.g. change of condition situation) and issue written reports for each site visit and/or assessment.

     

 Industrial Hygiene Lead

  • Must have Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist Certification by the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists or be a Certified Safety Professional from the American Board of Certified Safety Professionals or, Certified Industrial Hygienist from the American Board of Industrial Hygienists

  • 5 Years experience in industrial hygiene monitoring related to hazardous waste sites, characterization/remediation

  • Experience must include a thorough understanding and working knowledge of direct reading instruments, personnel exposure monitoring/sampling procedures and record keeping

  • Must be on-site during waste site excavation and waste handling activities

  • Must have a minimum high-school graduation level

  • Experience must including a thorough understanding and working knowledge of hazardous waste sampling, chain-of-custody procedures and radiological work processes.
